Carrollton First UMC is partnering with the Urban Mission (Steubenville) to hand out food boxes to Carrollton residents Nov. 24, Dec. 1, 8, 15. The handout will be drive-thru only and will take place in the parking lot at the Yellow Brick Church, located at 253 S. Chris Modranski soundly defeated Tom White in the race for Carroll County Commissioner (Jan. 3, 2021, term) at the Nov. 3 general election, according to unofficial results. Get your taste buds ready! The Friends of Carroll County Parks are seeking cooks and taste-testers for the Carroll County Park District Chili Cook-Off Nov. 7 from 2:30-6 p.m. The winner will receive the coveted “golden ladle”. Members of the Carrollton Rotary Club have not met since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and opted not to sponsor the parade this year. A group of local merchants discussed the importance of the parade to the local community and children, who are excited to see Santa and Mrs. Claus, and agreed to expand the event to include all of Carroll County and move it to a night event.

Over 5,000 of Carroll County’s 18,416 registered voters have already cast ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 general election. Board of Elections Director Cheri Whipkey said a combined 5,282 absentee ballots and early votes were cast as of Oct. 25.  About 140 early votes have been cast daily in the office since early voting began in early October.
