Carroll and four of the five surrounding counties experienced a decrease in population over the last decade, according to 2020 Census figures. The data showed Carroll County lost 2,115 residents over the last decade, after staying nearly stagnant for the previous 10-year cycle.  The 2020 figure of 26,721 is down 7.3 percent from the 2010 population of 28,836.   Stark County had a minimal decline of .2 percent or 733 residents. CCM Staff Report The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Conotton Valley student and seriously injured another Feb. 16. According to Sheriff Dale Williams, Braylen Novak was killed in the crash, which occurred at about 2:21 p.m. on SR 212 between Sherrodsville and the high school.  Novak, who was the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Dr.
