Carrollton, Malvern wrestlers earn 100th career win

Five Carrollton senior wrestlers participated at the Salon Classic last weekend, where they placed 13th in a field of 26 teams. Josh Carman (138 lbs.) led the group, placing second, followed by Levi Pidgeon (132) in third; Landon Jenkins (113) fifth and Owen Spilker (215) sixth. Kail Snair (120) also participated and earned the 100th win of his career.    CHS junior varsity Carrollton junior varsity teams competed at United Local.

Committee recommends hiring of Storm Hill as next CHS football coach

The Carrollton High School (CHS) Athletic Committee is recommending Carrollton native Storm Hill to the Carrollton Schools Board of Education to be hired as the next head football coach. Shirley E. McClosky, 87

Shirley E. McClosky, 87, of Amsterdam, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at the Country Club Retirement Village in Dover, Ohio. A daughter of the late Ray and Mary (Bell) Merrill, she was born on November 8, 1936 in Carroll County, Ohio. Shirley was a member of the former Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Harlem Springs.  Throughout her life she raised and trained thoroughbred horses and enjoyed painting ceramics.
