Carrollton, Malvern wrestlers earn 100th career win

Five Carrollton senior wrestlers participated at the Salon Classic last weekend, where they placed 13th in a field of 26 teams.
Josh Carman (138 lbs.) led the group, placing second, followed by Levi Pidgeon (132) in third; Landon Jenkins (113) fifth and Owen Spilker (215) sixth. Kail Snair (120) also participated and earned the 100th win of his career.
CHS junior varsity
Carrollton junior varsity teams competed at United Local. The B team won the tournament and the C team placed fifth.
Warriors who earned top six placings include:
First: Sawyer Broadwater (106), Aidan Shaw (215) first; Ozzy Roybal (113), Justin Hart (126) and Jayden Sutton.
Second: Hunter McClain (132), John Childs (138), Hayden Thomas (144) and Josh Rhiel (190).
Third: Jon Byler (126), Dalton Sweeney (157), Dalton Naylor (190) and Nick Lawrence (215).
Fourth: Cohen Little (106), Ryder Varansky (138) and Darrion DePalmo (150).
Fifth: Nic Peebles (120) and Nick Conrad (132).
Sixth: Jamasen Powell (165).
The Warriors are scheduled to complete in the North Canton Holiday tournament this weekend.
The Lady Warriors wrestling team traveled to United High School Girls Night Dec. 15, placing fourth in a field of 18 teams.
Isabella Nuzzolillo (3-0, three pinfalls) and Riley Alborn (4-0, four pinfalls) both placed first. Following with second place finishes were Kailey Delawder (3-1 3 pinfalls), Mackenzie Morrow (1-3), Carlee Bryant (2-2) and placing fourth were Kira McDaniel (1-4) and Alexis Farabaugh (1-3 1 pinfall).
MALVERN
Malvern wrestling celebrated senior night, a wrestler’s 100th win and victories over Crestview and United Local Dec. 13 in the team’s lone home meet of the season.
Senior Zach Babiczuk picked up the 100th win of his career with a pin of United Local wrestler Lammers at 215 pounds.
Seniors Babiczuk, Jordan Burrows, Philip Elfaye, Dante Passio, T.J. Proctor and Matt Pucci were recognized during a senior night ceremony.
The Hornets celebrated dual meet wins over Crestview 66-18 and United Local 60-24 to close out the evening.

“I would like to congratulate our senior class on their careers,” said Malvern Coach Robbie Wilson following the match. “The past four years we have had tremendous success and these boys have worked incredibly hard to accomplish what they have. I wish them all the best and know they will be successful in life.”
Wilson had words of praise for his 100-win wrestler.
“I would also like to congratulate Zach Babiczuk on reaching his 100th win. He has worked extremely hard to become the wrestler he is today and deserves all the praise in the world,” he said.
“We came ready to wrestle tonight. We are very strong through our middle weights and Matt Pucci embodied that belief with the two pins he had tonight.”
