Zoey Elliot and Bobby Brennan turned in record-setting bowling performances

Minerva and Carrollton split matches when the rivals met for the first time this bowling season Dec. 13 at Minerva Bowl.

The Carrollton boys team picked up its fifth win of the season 2,610-2,346 while the Lady Lions handed the Lady Warriors their first loss of the season 2,644-2,450.

Noah Hutson laid down games of 222 and 219 for a match high 441 series. Jaden Johnston rolled games of 225 and 177 for a 402 series to help the Warriors gain a 1,885-1,674 lead after the  individual games. Carrollton won the Baker rotation 725-672. 

Owen Frazier broke the 200 mark with a 209 game and added a 191 for a 400 score to lead the Lions. Randy Meadows added games of 192 and 153 for a 345 series for the Lions.

The Lady Lions built a 1,876-1,729 lead in the individual games competition and edged the visitors 768-721 in the Baker to secure the win.

Anna Leach 424 (228, 196) and Shelby Worrell 424 (228, 196) led the winners. Zoey Elliott (158, 214) and Kaylee Russell (171, 201) both laid down 372 series for Carrollton. 

Carrollton v 

United Local

Both Carrollton teams picked up wins over very competitive United Local teams Dec. 12 at Carroll Lanes.

Dave Davis’ boys team built an 1,884-1,791 lead after the individual games, but saw the Golden Eagles cut the advantage with a 788-729 win in the Baker for a final score of 2,613-2,579.

Ethan Hively (United) bowled the high game (239) and high series (420). Patrick Bryan contributed a 384 series (212, 172). Bryce Taylor paced the Warrior scoring with a 427 series (204, 213) while Johnston rolled a 394 (211, 183).

Elliott set a new Carrollton High School benchmark for the highest score in a single game with a 266 score in her first game. The previous record of 265 was set by Kellyn Harsh Feb. 2, 2022, at Carroll Lanes. Elliott rolled a 170 second game score for a 436 series. Abby Natcher followed Elliott’s score up with a a 343 series (149, 194).  Courtney Swogger paced the Golden Eagles with a 278 series (139, 139). 

The hosts built a 1,753-1,321 lead in the individual games and won the Baker 510-416.

Conotton Valley

Three Rockets laid down 400 series as the girls team defeated Indian Valley Dec. 11 on the team’s home lanes at the Rocket Center

Lilah Williams bowled the high series of 417 (212, 205) while Mylie Galigher’s first game of 234 was high for the contest. Galigher added a 181 second game for a 415 series. Mackenzie Willoughby added a 410 series (204, 206) as the hosts posted a 2,212-1,591 victory. The Rockets built a 1,805-1,245 in the individual games and posted a 407-346 advantage in the Baker rotation.

Bobby Brennan’s 451 series (223, 228) was high for the boys match, but not enough to lift the hosts over the Braves. Indian Valley built a 1,845-1,668 lead in the individual games and added a 586-484 advantage to the subtotal for a 2,431-2,152 win. 

Nate Downing rolled a 366 series (162, 204) and Logan Slutz added a 320 (139, 181) to the score. 

Conotton Valley won the junior varsity match 1,382-1,301. 

Conotton v Dover

The Rockets match with Dover Dec. 12 was highlighted by a perfect score by Brennan (300) in the second game of his individual series and two 500 series. Brennan added a 246 in his first game for a 546 series. 

Downing also topped the 500 mark with games of 236 and 277 for a 513 series.

The visiting Rockets topped the Quakers by 44 pins, 2,764-2,720 for the win. Conotton led 1,988-1.876 following the individual games, but saw the Quakers close the gap in the Baker rotation with an 844-766 win. 

Kris Miller led Dover with a 478 series (245, 233).

Led by Willoughby’s 417 series (224,192) the Lady Rockets picked up a 2,429-1.942 win. Galigher laid down a 386 series (190, 196) and Williams a 374 (215, 159).

Conotton led 1,800-1,419 after the individual games and won the Baker 629-523.

The Rockets closed out the week in the Rocket Center with wins of Tuscarawas Central Catholic. The girls team won 2.211-1,366 behind 415 series from Galigher (203,212) and Williams (214, 201).

The boys team won 2,273-1,873.
