William “Bill” Kovacik

William “Bill” Kovacik, 54, of Carrollton, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 8, 2023. Born Aug. 16, 1968, in Coshocton, Ohio, he was the son of Lorraine Hixenbaugh and the late Peter Kovacik. Bill was a member of the Carrollton Fraternal Order of Eagles.  He is survived by his mother, Lorraine (William) Tauzel of Carrollton. Ralph A. Whipkey, 55, of Mineral City, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 in the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born July 11, 1967, in Canton to the late Richard and Stella (Wendell) Whipkey. He was a multi-state licensed fire suppression inspector and installer and was a tree trimmer. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1985 where he played percussion in the Carrollton High School Band through his high school years.

Hung jury in Stamm rape case

By Carol McIntire  Editor After nearly six hours of deliberation, a Carroll County petit jury was unable to reach a verdict in the rape and sexual battery case of Corey Stamm, formerly of Carroll County and now of North Canton.  Common Pleas Judge Michael V.
