Flag retirement ceremony

A Flag Retirement ceremony was held June 14 at the VFW Fighting McCooks Post 3301 on Chase Rd., Carrollton. Commander James Newbold offered a brief history of Flag Day, which was officially established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson. Local weightlifter sets national mark

Several area weightlifters recently competed in the World Raw Federation competition. Dustin Kempf set national records for the Open Abs 165 lbs. Sub Master with the following:  Squat, 540 lbs.; bench 308 lbs.; deadlift, 600 lbs.; for a total of 1,448 lbs. Mike Buckey won first in the 198 lbs. open. Second motion filed to dismiss Baker manslaughter case

A motion to dismiss the voluntary manslaughter case against a Carroll County sheriff deputy has been filed for the second time. Vera M. Toalston, 96

Vera Mae Toalston, 96, of Carrollton, died Friday, June 18, 2021. Born Dec. 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George and Vinnie (Betz) Adams. Vera graduated from Carrollton High School in 1944, and married her high school sweetheart Roy J. Toalston, Sept. 5, 1946.
