Rockets with fourth OVAC softball title

Conotton Valley won its fourth consecutive Ohio Valley Athletic Conference softball title with an 8-2 victory over the Weirton Madonna Blue Dons April 27. 

Madi Kelley went 3-4 at the plate with a solo home run to left field and two singles.  

Masy Baker struck out 15 batters, giving up two hits, tworuns, and 1 walk. The Rockets tallied 12 hits in the game, with Baker, Braxton Neilson, Kelley having three hits each, and Jenica Frutig with a single.

Dover

The Conotton Valley Rockets could only muster two hits in a softball matchup with the Dover Tornadoes May 2, losing 3-1. 

Dover led 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh before Rocket Braxton Neilson singled and scored on a Delilah Williams doubled. But it was all the offense for the Lady Rockets.

Baker got the start, throwing four innings giving up two runs, both unearned on four hits, three walks while striking out ten. Kelley pitched the final three innings giving up an earnrd run on one hit, two walks, striking out three. Dover pitching struck out 16 Rockets.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic

The Rockets won two games against the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints earlier in the week.

On April 29, the Lady Rockets scored 10 runs in the first inning and seven in the second to put the game away early, going on to post a 19-6 win.

Williams went 2-3 with a triple and home run, four RBIs and scored a run. Kelley was 3-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Baker was 3-4 with a double and a triple, scoring two runs and collected three RBIs. Delaney Peters scored three runs, going 2-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Conotton Valley outhit TCC 16-4. They also had seven errors to the Saints four.

On May 1, the Rockets defeated the Saints 17-1.  The winners scored four runs in each of the first three innings, added three in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Rockets outhit the Saints 10-3. The Saints had nine errors.

Kelley got the win, pitching five innings. The ace gave up one unearned run on three hits, one walk with 10 strikeouts.

Baker led the surge at the plate, going 3-5 with a double and two home runs, scoring five runs and driving in four. Williams had two doubles, going 2-4 with a run and five RBIs. Arionna Spano went 1-3, scoring three runs.
