Minerva, Carrollton bowlers sweep awards at Dover tournament

Minerva and Carrollton dominated the field of eight teams at the Dover Invitational Jan 13 at Boulevard Lanes. 

Minerva sat comfortably in first place after three individual games as the top four teams advanced to the championship round. The Lions tallied 3,780, 157 points ahead of second place Carrollton with 3,713. Riverview was in third, 772 points behind the leader at 3,269 and Garaway rounded out the foursome with 3,098.

The Lions topped Garaway 3-2 in the best of five Baker games while Carrollton topped Riverview 3-0 to set the title match, which the Lions won 3-2.

The Lions and Warriors dominated the All-Tournament team with each team placing two bowlers in the top five. 

Minerva’s Kayla Henderhan placed first with a score of 624 in the individual games, followed by Carrollton bowlers Mackenzie Rummell in second (595) and Zoey Elliott third (591), and the Lions’ Jadynn Thompson fifth (588).

In the boys tournament, Carrollton placed fifth and Minerva seventh. Neither team qualified for the championship round.
