James lifts Warriors to win with walkoff, 3-run HR

Trailing 3-0 to West Branch in the seventh inning with two outs, Landon James hit a walk-off, three-run home run to lift the Carrollton Warriors a 4-3 victory April 24 at Hensley Field. The win avenged a loss to West Branch the night before, evening the two-game series at 1-1.
West Branch plated all three runs in the third inning. Nicholaus Conrad and Jake Whitmore walked to start the Carrollton rally. Hunter Allison singled to drive in Conrad. James walked to the plate and hit a home run over the left field fence.
Hayden Jenkins started for the Warriors, throwing six innings. He gave up three earned runs on two hits, four walks and struck out 11. Allison pitched a scoreless seventh.
James went 1-4 with a home run, three RBIs and one run scored. Allison was 2-4 with a run and RBI. Isaac Husted was 2-4. Carrollton led in hits 8-2. They also committed one error.
West Branch Game 1
The Warriors gave up eight unearned runs in the 11-0 loss to West Branch April 23 at Beloit. The visitors committed four errors and were outhit 13-1. West Branch scored four runs in each of the first two innings, adding three more in the third for the win.
Isiah McConnell got the start, throwing three innings, giving up 11 runs, three earned on 12 hits and one walk while striking out one. Husted pitched the last inning, giving up one hit and striking out three. Cooper Haun picked Carrollton’s lone hit.
