Area Boys teams dominate sectional bowling action

Teams from Carrollton, Conotton Valley and Sandy Valley advanced to the boys Division II district bowling tournament this week at Coshocton. 

The trio finished in the top six teams at sectional action at St. Clair Lanes in St. Clairsville Feb. 13. 

Indian Valley won the top spot in the field of 23 teams with a score of 3,945, over 400 pins ahead of Carrollton in second with a score of 3,504. Harrison Central was third at 3,430, Conotton Valley fourth, 3,394, Barnesville fifth, 3,391 and Sandy Valley sixth, 3,383. The top six team advanced. Minerva finished seventh, four pins short of the Rockets and a qualifying. 

Individually, Conotton Valley senior Bobby Brennan placed third with a 642 score for the three game total. Indian Valley took the top two places. 

Brennan’s teammate Nate Downing, a sophomore, placed sixth with a 575, Conlin Warwick of Sandy Valley was 11th at 532 followed by Carrollton junior Bryce Taylor in 12th with a 531.

Minerva sophomore Owen Frazier qualified as an individual, placing 16th overall with a 511.

Others scoring for Carrollton included, Jaden Johnston was 22nd (496), Nelson Grimm 29th (488), Jace Eckinger 47th (453), and Khalen Green, 100th, (288), Conotton Valley scores included Logan Sllutz, 69th (418), Zack Parker 102nd (270) and Drew Herron 105th (267).

Sandy Valley was led by Warwick in 12th with a score of 532. A.J. Meighen placed 23rd (494), Deackon Miller 52nd (448) and Sean Maddox 48th (452).

Minervca sophomore Owen Frazier placed 16th individually and qualified with a 511 series. 

The top six teams and top six individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the district tournament Feb. 22 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton. The top two teams and top two individuals not on a qualifying team at districts will advance to the state tournament March 1 and 3 in Columbus.
