Thomas D. Rainsberger, 88

Thomas D. Rainsberger, 88, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, April 20, in Aultman Hospital.  

He was born June 13, 1935, in Canton to Brice Arthur and Dorothy (Slates) Rainsberger. He worked for GTE and retired from Verizon after 37 ½ years of service. He owned Atwood Heating and Cooling along with his sons. He was also the owner of Rocky Ridge Apiary and a member of the Carroll County Bee Club. He graduated from Dellroy High School in 1953 and is a U.S. Army Veteran. He is a 50 year member of Carroll Lodge #124 F&AM, 50 year member of Carroll Chapter #315 Order of the Eastern Star, member of Royal Arch Masons #123, and the Loyalty Council #146. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida for 23 years where he loved to fish. Besides fishing, he loved to go hunting, camping and bowling.  

He was a calm gentle soul and devoted husband, father and grandfather and survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma Jean (Cook) Rainsberger; two sons, David (Wendy) Rainsberger of Carrollton, Jeff (Becky) Rainsberger of Carrollton; grandson, David (Ashley) Rainsberger; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Leigh Rainsberger.

Private family services will be held with burial in Harlem Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register book atwww.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
