John “Mike” Harris

John “Mike” Harris, 65, of Carrollton, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 16, 2023 after a long battle with leukemia.  

Born on Aug. 23, 1958, in Dennison, Ohio, he was the son of Betty (McLeod) Harris  and the late Neal Harris.

Mike, also affectionately known as “stick”, attended the Dellroy Christ Community Church and was a member of the Jewett Sportsman’s Club.  He retired from Republic Steel after twenty five years, and currently worked for Mark West Marathon.  Throughout his life, he raised rabbit dogs, and was also a member of the Carroll County Grass, playing banjo in the bluegrass band, both alongside his father.  Mike also loved to hunt, and was an avid fisherman.  He will be remembered most for his generous heart, having always donated to many different organizations to help those in need.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Harris, whom he married in 2015; mother, Betty Harris; sister, Judy (Randy) Giacobbi; niece, Randi (Danielle Cross) Giacobbi; two step-sons, Christopher Michael Snodgrass and James Robert (Kelsey) Snodgrass; and granddaughter, Penny Snodgrass.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m., at Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton with Pastor Scott Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jewett. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
