Warriors shut out Lions in soggy season opener

Carrollton scored twice in the second quarter and once in the third and fourth quarters as they shut out the Minerva Lions 28-0 in lightning-delayed contest at Community Field.

Dominick Speelman ran for an 11-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Jarod Becknell added the extra point.

Sophomore Brock Smith caught a 26-yard pass from Luke Warner with 3:04 remaining in the first half. Becknell’s extra point gave Carrollton a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Sophomore Chase Oehlstrom broke lose for a 49-yard touchdown in the third period and Warner added a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth period. Becknell added both extra points.
