Warriors receive highest seed of area teams in East Division girls basketball tourney

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) announced the basketball pairings for the 2024 high school girls basketball state tournament Sunday.

In the Division II Eastern District (21 teams), the Carrollton Warriors received the #4 seed and will host # 18 seed New Philadelphia on Feb. 21. The winner will play #16 seed Maysville on Feb. 24.

Minerva received the 15th seed and will travel to #5 seed West Holmes Feb. 21. The winner will face #13 seed Morgan Feb. 24.

In the Division III East District (13 teams), the Sandy Valley Cardinals received the #9 seed and will travel to #4 seed Bellaire Feb. 21. The winner will face # 8 seed Meadowbrook.

In the Division IV East District (18 teams), the Conotton Valley Rockets received the #9 seed and travel to #6 Caldwell Feb. 21. The winner will play # 16 Bridgeport or #3 Woodsfield Monroe Central Feb. 24.

The Malvern Hornets received the 15th seed and will play the winner of #2 seed Hannibal River and # 18 seed Newcomerstown on Feb. 21.

The boys tournament bracket will be drawn Feb. 11.
