Carrollton senior Lincoln Mallarnee marked an achievement few do in their high school basketball career- scoring 1,000 points.
The 6-ft., 2-inch forward needed seven points going into the Feb. 20 home game with Indian Valley to reach the mark. He wasted no time setting the mark, driving into the lane for a layup at the 5:30 mark of the first period and repeating the fete just over a minute later. He backed out beyond the arc and sank a 3-pointer with 3:02 left in the first period to reach the 1,000 point mark . Play was temporarily stopped for a photo of Mallarnee with his coach and teammates and a standing ovation from Carrollton fans.
He is the eighth Carrollton Warrior to accomplish the fete all-time and the second under Coach Mike Aukerman, the other being Adam Chaney.
Carrollton fell 46-44 to the Braves, who are the No. 2 seed in the East 1 sectional tournament that begins next week. Carrollton open tournament play as the 10th seed in the same bracket and will face the winner of the Minerva v Beaver Local game March 2 at 7 p.m.
