Lady Rockets knock off reigning state champions

The Conotton Valley girls bowling team knocked off the reigning state champions last week on the Rocket Center Lanes. 

Coach Brian Baxter’s Lady Rockets defeated Triway by 33 pins, 2,515-2482 and spoiled the Titans’ undefeated season. 

Conotton Valley held a 101-pin lead after the individual games, 1,794-1,693. Triway clawed its way back into the contest during the Baker competition with scores of 137, 244, 184 and 224 for a 789. The Rockets posted Baker scores of 176, 168, 176 and 201 for a 721. 

Conotton Valley was led by freshman Delilah Williams, who posted the high series score of 416 with games of 190 and 226.

Reigning individual state champion Emma Yoder of Triway rolled games of 183 and 211 for a 394 series. Just three weeks ago, Yoder set a new school record of a 533 series when Triway matched up against Wooster.

Daphne Stuber laid down games of 172 and 213 for a 385 series, while Mackenzie Willoughby added a 352 series (201, 151) and Mylie Galigher 338 (180, 158). Katie Schaar and Chloe Blick rolled single games of 151 and 153 respectively.
