Ashlee Garner shot a 78 to lead the Carrollton Warriors Girls Golf team to the Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) championship at Zoar Golf course Sept. 21.
The Lady linkers finished the regular season with a 15-0 record, 7-0 in the EBC. Along the way they broke several school records.
At the EBC/Tri County Tournament, the Warriors placed second with a 335, but since they were the lowest EBC score, outdistancing their nearest EBC foe by 49 strokes, they were declared league champion. Garaway won the tournament with a 305.
West Branch golfers tallied a 384 score, followed by Marlington 392, Alliance 409 and Minerva 454. Marlington’s Zoe Mort fired a two-under-par 70 to win tournament medalist honors.
Claire Hostetler carded an 80 for the winners, Jada Moore shot an 87 and Kasee Gallo rounded out the scoring with a 90.
On Sept. 18 the Warriors traveled to Indian Valley and brought home a 163-204 win.
Hostetler led all scorers with a 38. Garner was one stroke behind with a 39. Kaylee Russell carded a 42 and Gallo rounded out the scoring with a 44.
Carrollton was scheduled to compete in the sectional tournament Sept. 25 at Carroll Meadows. Twenty-one teams and 12 individuals will ascend on the local course for the 9 a.m. start.
The top six teams and six lowest individuals not on those teams will advance to districts at Cambridge Country Club Oct. 4.
