Carrollton senior Talen Timberlake and sophomore Jaxon Rinkes combined for 36 points as the Warriors won the season opener 50-42 over Claymont.
Carrollton took a one-point lead 7-6 lead after the first quarter before taking control of the non-league contest with 16 points in the second period. The visiting Warriors led 23-14 at intermission and 31-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
Two of Timberlake’s 18 points from the field came via a dunk. He was also perfect from the foul line, sinking all three attempts. He had a game-high 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots.
Nine of Rinkes’ 15 points came from beyond the three-point arc. He added a field goal and went four-for-four from the foul line.
Carrollton won the battle on the boards 32-26.
Senior Gage Poole added 10 points, including two 3-pt. shots. Darick Miller added a field goal and Brock Smith sank two foul shots.
