A Magnolia man was killed early Sunday morning after a UTV accident in Rose Twp.

The Carroll County Sheriff department received a 911 call at 1:40 a.m. for a side-by-side accident on Thunder Rd. at the intersection of Fargo Rd.

Troy D. Saurer, 26, of Stallion Rd., Magnolia, was riding a 2014 CanAm Bombardier which went off the right side of the roadway. The side-by-side overturned ejecting Saurer, and rolled down an embankment. The UTV hit Saurer causing severe head trauma.

Magnolia Fire Department was called to rescue Saurer who was over the embankment about 40 feet. Dellroy Fire Dept. was called to set up a landing zone for Stat Medevac. However, the helicopter was unable to fly due to weather conditions.

Saurer was transported to Aultman Hospital by Quad Ambulance where he was pronounced dead. Alcohol use is suspected.

Sheriff Dale Williams said this was the sixth fatality in 2020.
