The 2024 Homestead Rendezvous will be held May 18 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the Bergholz Firehall Township grounds at 724 Monroe St. in Bergholz.
The Homestead Rendezvous brings together small farmers, homesteaders, agricultural businesses and agencies and the public to promote small farming in our region.
Small farmers and homesteaders will have the opportunity to network, talk with businesses and agencies serving the ag community and, best of all, meet new customers at an open-air market.
The exhibitors produce the products and provide services from their small farms and homesteads, raising animals, tapping maple trees, building feeders, baking bread, collecting eggs and supporting their families. There will be demonstrations at vendor sites, including sheep shearing, milking dairy animals and butterfly activities.
This year’s keynote address is Revitalizing Your Community Through Agriculture by Hans Knuess of Rural Action organization.
Additional presentations include Constructing a Pond, Solving Pond Problems, Developing a Forest Management Plan, Planning a Timber Harvest Today and Tomorrow, Owning a Family Cow, Herbal/Honey Health, Propagating Elderberry Plants and much more.
Programs will benefit experienced and novice homesteaders.
The Soil and Water Conservation District of Jefferson County will conduct creek walks throughout the day allowing visitors to experience what lives in the creek.
Food vendors include Deer Run School Amish community, Purple Circle 4-H club and Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department.
The Homestead Rendezvous is free to attend. This is a family-friendly event.
Visitors are asked to leave pets at home as there will be farm animals on premise that day.
As always, service dogs are welcome.
