Kenneth R. Sellards, 77, of Crum Road SE, Sherrodsville, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 16, 2020, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 16, 1943, in Charleston, WV, he was the son of  the late Edgar Ray and Alberta Earthileen Horner Sellards.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernie Sellards, Chester Sellards and Lester Sellards;  and a sister, Gloria Johnson.

He retired from the former Edgar Spring, Inc. after 30 years of working general construction. Following retirement, he owned and operated a small private trucking company. Ken was an auto-racing enthusiast who spent much of his life around race cars. He was a well-known fixture at Midvale Speedway where he raced competitively for about six years. He had a high regard for anything with wheels and an engine, like motorcycles, cars and dune buggies, or any activity that involved motorized sports. He was fond of driving his three-wheeled motorcycle, which he built from scratch.

He faithfully followed the activities of his grandchildren, and enjoyed playing a slightly less-than-honest game of cards with his family. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather whom will be missed by his family and numerous friends.

He is survived by  his wife Barbara Ann Maurer Sellards; his three children, Marcus (Karen) Sellards of Sherrodsville,  Mrs.Tammy (Bryan) Burris of Dallas, GA, and Brock (Tricia) Sellards of Sherrodsville; his six grandchildren, Kordell Sellards and Kale Sellards, both of Sherrodsville, Bryar Burris and Taylin Burris, both of Dallas, GA, and Brody Sellards and Tatum Sellards, both of Sherrodsville; and a brother, Larry (Laura) Sellards of Sherrodsville.

No formal funeral service arrangements are currently planned, but the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date. Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. To leave an online condolence message, visit
