OHSAA playoff begin Nov. 1: four area teams preparing for Round 1 games

Four area football teams are headed to the first round of the Ohio School Athletic Association (OHSAA) football playoffs.
Malvern and Conotton Valley both secured home games, while Carrollton and Edison will both make road trips to meet their opponents. All games are scheduled Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
Conotton Valley and Malvern are the highest ranked teams in the Carroll County area.
The Rockets finished #3 in Division VII Region 27 and will host the #14 Fairfield Christian Academy Knights. The Rockets posted a 27-14 win over Weirton Madonna Oct. 25 to finish the regular season at 7-3. The Knights, who are a member of the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League, ended the season 3-7.
Malvern finished #3 in Division VII Region 25 and will host the #14 Lucas Cubs, a team they previously met in the playoffs (2021). The Hornets defeated East Canton 34-0 Friday to compile a 9-1 season mark. The Lucas Cubs, a member of the Mid Buckeye Conference, compiled a 5-5 regular season mark.
Carrollton, #14 in Division III Region 11, will travel to Tri-Valley to take on the #8 Scotties, who completed a perfect season Oct. 25 with a 38-7 win over John Glenn. The Scotties are a member of the Muskingum Valley Conference. Carrollton completed the regular season on a winning note Friday with a 36-0 win over Minerva.
Edison, #9 in Division V Region 17, will travel to Girard to take on the #9 Indians. The Edison Wildcats suffered a 20-13 loss to Indian Creek Friday to finish the season at 7-3. The Indians posted a 6-4 record.
Sandy Valley fell short of qualifying with a 5-5 mark in Division V Region 17.
