Tyson Harry Horshok, of New Rumley, passed away June 5, 2024, at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, following a yearlong battle with cancer.

Born October 10, 1957, he was a son of the late Harry and Alma “Rosie” Horshok. In his earlier years,  Tyson attended Germano School and worked with his dad farming in the Germano area.

He graduated from Jewett-Scio High School in 1976 and began his coal mining career even before graduating. He worked for Harrison Mining and later retired from Hopedale Mining. “Buck”, as he was called by his mining buddies, enjoyed his time working in the mine, but not as much as he enjoyed his retirement. He also worked at Landmark in both Cadiz and Carrollton and Smith and Nephew in Carrollton until the plant closed.

An avid bow hunter, he had many trophies for his skills participating at Bow Shoots and had many trophy bucks. Not only did Tyson enjoy deer and rabbit hunting with his family and friends, but he could also be found in surrounding counties from May through October at yard sales. He loved to find good deals and would share those “treasures” with his family and friends.

Tysons hobbies were taking pictures of family, friends and nature and feeding and watching birds, deer, cats and fish on his property. He was a music fan who enjoyed attending many concerts with his  longtime friend Jody, prior to his illness.

Surviving are a daughter Tiffany (Corey) Ertle and her sons Dominic and Damien of Homosassa, Florida; son Bryan Horshok of Pinellas Park, Florida; sisters Rosebud (Terry) Howell of New  Philadelphia and Tammy (David) Booth of Kilgore; special nephew Ethan (Wendy) Booth and his sons of Kilgore and his close hunting buddy and cousin Robert “Rock” Lynch.
Tyson attended Kilgore Evangelical Church and Pastor Harold Miller will officiate a private graveside memorial service at a later date. Koch Funeral Home, Scio, has been entrusted with his arrangements.
