Coach pleased with performance
High winds and rain greeted members of the Carrollton Shooting Club who participated in the State SCTP Trap Singles Tournament, held June 21 at the Cardinal Center in Morengo.
“For the high winds and rain we had, all the kids did a great job!” commented Coach Mike Rummell. “I am ecstatic on how well they performed, especially with the weather conditions they had to deal with. High winds & the rain make clay targets very unpredictable & creates a whole new challenge level.”
The club was organized in 2019 with plans to complete a year of competition and participate in the state tournament in 2020. However, since the group was organized as a school club, when school was shut down due to COVID-19, the club was shut down as well. Members competed this spring via virtual regular season events to qualify for the state event.
The 20 Carrollton qualifiers competed in the 16-yard singles competition and shot 200 targets. They were divided into different levels according to their time in the SCTP and grade level.
Two team members, Dakota Ketchum and Brody Moore both shot 25 straight targets, placing them in an elite group.
