Virgil Paul Carter, 91, of Minerva, passed away at Aultman Health Foundation on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Virgil was born in Barnesville, Ohio on Oct. 26, 1932, to Virgil F. and Iva (Gibbons) Carter.
Virgil was a dedicated employee at B&W, where he contributed his skills and knowledge over the years. Outside of work, Virgil found joy in various interests including FOE, Minerva Sportsman’s Club, Barberton VFW, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his cherished children and grandchildren.
Virgil will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends, including his daughters LouAnne (Joseph) Ware of Akron, Beverly (Ted) Jones of Barberton, Rita (Don) Shepherd of Florida, Deborah (Greg) Milliken of Waxhaw NC, and Carole (Ruben) DeLaRosa of Wooster; sons Stephen (Brenda) Copeland of Wadsworth, David Carter of Akron, John (Gina) Carter of Barberton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his dear wife Marilyn Carter; former wife and lifelong friend Norma Hausch; siblings Lillis Flinnikin, AddaBelle Cutshaver, Wilfred Carter, Gerald Carter, Norman Carter, Olive Spencer, Julius Carter, Norman Carter, an infant son, and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be held at Bartley Funeral Home, 205 West Lincoln Way, Minerva, Ohio, on Wednesday, May 22, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Debbie Noble officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home.
