Terry B. Roudebush, 83, of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday morning Jan. 2, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy in Canton following a brief illness.
Born June 7, 1940, to the late Frank B. Jr. and Ruby C. Tope Roudebush in Canton, Ohio.
Terry was a graduate of Carrollton High School class of 1958. He graduated from Rittner’s Floral School in Boston, MA. He returned to Carrollton and worked with his parents in the Carrollton Greenhouse that his grandfather, Frank B. Sr., started in 1912. Terry later went to Hixon’s Master Design in Cleveland and extension courses from Penn State. He became the manager of the florist shop at the Carrollton Greenhouse and took over management of greenhouse production after his father’s illness.
He and his wife, Barb, started their own shop in the location of his great grandfather’s business, J.B. Birch, noted pioneer in the nursery and grower here in Carrollton. The new shop was called Terry Roudebush Florist, and was started in 1990 and closed in 2008 after Terry’s 50 years in the florist business in Carrollton was completed.
He married Barbara Custer on Sept. 29, 1963, in Scio, Ohio. She is the love of his life. They had three children, Tim (fiancé, Dana Johnson), Rob, and Rebecca (John Jr.) Nign; Rob is deceased.
His hobbies were amateur radio, butterflies, and pow-wows, also herbal medicine.
He believed in the power of Jesus, the Great Spirit, and his Native American Heritage.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no formal services and cremation has taken place. He will be buried in Westview Cemetery next to his son, Rob. A Native Ceremony will be performed at a later date.
Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton assisted the family with arrangements.
