Robert E. “Bob” Polen I, 80, of Beach City, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020, in

Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar, following a long illness.

Born Jan. 25, 1940, in Salineville, he was a son of the late Clyde E. and Hazel G. Frasier Polen. 

Bob served honorably in the United States Army, and on, June 8, 1962, married the former Charlotte Owens who survives. He was a long-time truck driver, mostly hauling steel. Later, Bob drove charter tour buses, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and liked working on both jigsaw and word puzzles. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his sons, Robert (Lisa) Polen II of Strasburg and Brook Dean Polen of Beach City; his grandson, who was the apple of his eye, Andrew Polen; his brothers, John (Barbara), Jack, Clyde (Nancy) and James (Cathy) Polen; and his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, William L. Polen; his sisters, Mary Margaret Polen and Patricia J. Orr; and his brother, Jerry Polen. 

Honoring his wishes, Bob will be cremated. A committal service will be held in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. Bob’s brother-in-law, Dan Shankel, will officiate.
