Rita Angela Smith

Rita Angela Smith, 70, of Louisville, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 1, 2023.  

Rita was born in Canton, Ohio on March 11, 1953, to Patsy and Tina (DiPede) Recchio. Rita worked for the Aultman Health Foundation for 40 years. The love of her life were her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

To cherish her precious memories are her son, Patrick Smith of Canton; three grandchildren: Talon, Maverick and Nova; two sisters: Patricia DeDent of Canton and Marie (W. A.) Lucas of Minerva; a brother, Jerry (Dana Roll) Recchio of New Philadelphia; nieces and nephews: Kristen DeDent of Canton, Kelli (Nathan) Smith of Mineral Springs NC, Kerri Breckenridge of Minerva, Kyle (Lola) Lucas of East Rochester, Mia (Andy) Brower of Columbus, Ethan Recchio of Dallas TX, and Rachel (Jesse) Jones of Canton; and former daughter-in-law, Amanda Smith of Louisville.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her former spouse, Jim “Beat” Smith Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 125 Carrollton Street, Malvern, on Friday, July 7, at 11 a.m. with Celebrant. Victor Cinson of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 6-8 p.m. at Deckman Bartley Funeral Home, 434 West Main Street, Malvern and on Friday, July 7, 10-11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Thursday, July 6, at 7:45 p.m.
