Ray A. Starkey, 72

Ray A. Starkey, 72, of Sherrodsville, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.

Born on Aug. 19, 1951, in Canton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Herman and Lila (Pennock) Starkey.

Throughout his life, Ray was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He especially loved his family and would spend every moment he could with his children and grandchildren.  

Ray is survived by his son Dustin Starkey; three grandchildren, Dylan Starkey, Cole Starkey, and Shelby (Gage Dickey); two great-grandchildren, Myles Dickey and Kensley Starkey, as well as a great-granddaughter on the way; brother, Paul (Martha) Starkey; and sister, Joyce (Jerry) Crowl. Preceding him in death along with his parents, was his son, Brian Starkey in 2020.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, Jan. 5 at Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ohio with Pastor Cynthia Hervey officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Minerva. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 4–6 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
