Nilamarie Hendershot, age 95, a lifetime Dellroy resident, died  Thursday afternoon, Jan, 4, 2024, in  the Carroll Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton.

She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Dellroy, the daughter of the late Josiah T., Sr. and Dora Mae (Williamson) Barrick. 

Her husband, Robert P. Hendershot, whom she married March 8, 1971, passed away June 26, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penelope Ann “Penny” Staten,  two brothers John A. Barrick and Josiah T. Barrick, Jr., and a sister, Mary Lina Neuman.
Nilamarie was a retired employee of the U.S. Ceramic Tile Company in East Sparta and helped her daughter operate a daycare center in Dellroy for many years. She also spent a few years delivering newspapers. She was an active and faithful member of the Wesley Community Chapel in Carrollton.  She was a talented musician who shared her talents with local churches where she played the piano and organ.  She could also play the clarinet and accordion. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Dellroy High School and an active outreach volunteer with the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Carrollton. She relentlessly loved and cared for her family, animals, and her community.  She will be missed by her family and many friends.


She is survived by her grandchildren, Caleb Staten of Dellroy, William W. Staten, Jr. of Midvale and Mrs. Christy (Jon) Bailey of Franklin Furnace; a son-in-law, William W. Staten, Sr. of Dellroy; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bailey, Lacy Staten, Laura Staten and Jonathon Bailey.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Wesley Community Chapel, 569 12th Street NW,  Carrollton with  Pastors Gordon Warner and Michael Doak officiating.  Interment will follow in Union Valley Cemetery near Dellroy.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services in the church. Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
