Gary “Butch” Wartluft, Jr., 53

Gary “Butch” Wartluft Jr., 53, of Mechanicstown, passed away Friday, Jan.  28, 2022, after a short illness. 

Born April 8, 1968, in Canton, he was a son to Gary and Eva “Cookie” Marie (Albert) Wartluft.  Butch attended Buckeye Vocational School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1986. He married Melanie Anne Ketchum on June 23, 1990. He had worked at Republic Storage for 28 years and later worked at Ambaflex for 6½ years. He was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church in Mechanicstown. His hobbies include ice fishing, wood working, puzzles, metal detecting and hunting.                      

Along with his parents and wife of 31 years, Melanie, he is survived by his children, Ethan (Kristin) Wartluft of Mechanicstown, Emily (Jonathan) Smith of Ft. Campbell, KY, and Elija Wartluft of Mechanicstown; two sisters, Tammy (Randy) Shifflett of Paris and Tina (Matt) Huggins of Waynesburg; and three grandchildren Clayton, Josie and Carter.                

Funeral services will be held Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. in Maple Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington with Harold Barber officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicstown Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
