Angela D. Wisman

Angela D. Wisman, 48, of  Sherrodsville, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2023 at the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec.16, 1974, in Canton, Ohio and was the daughter of Mark Steven Bratka of Bowerston, OH and the late Belinda Gay (Loudermilk) Johns. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Vern Johns, maternal grandparents William Lawrence and Almeda G. (Johnson) Loudermilk, paternal grandmother Charlotte (Nesbitt) Biedenbach, and twin brothers Mark Steven Bratka, Jr., and Craig Anthony Bratka.

Angela was a graduate of Conotton Valley High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Kent State University. She was employed as a registered nurse at Union Hospital in Dover until illness forced her retirement in 2018. She possessed a nurturing personality and was very devoted to her profession. She was always the “caregiver” … not only for her patients, but for her family as well. She was characteristically artistic and creative and could design and create literally anything with amazing results. She loved to style hair, especially when her daughters were preparing for some of life’s special occasions.  Known to some as the “Crazy Plant Lady”, her home was filled with and surrounded by live plants and flowers. She had a special affinity for the delicate nature of butterflies.  She cherished the title as “Mamaw” and the special moments that she shared with her grandchildren. As an unforgettable legacy to her family, Angela accepted her terminal diagnosis with strength, quiet grace, and remarkable dignity.

In addition to her father Mark S. Bratka of Bowerston, she is survived by her husband Dell S. Wisman, whom she married September 24, 1994, two daughters, Mrs. Taylor E. (Dakota) West of Bowerston, OH and Mrs. Makayla (James) Snyder of Uhrichsville, OH, her  “Adopted Daughter”, Madison (Blake) Willis of Dover, OH, her three grandsons, Elijah and Elliott West of Bowerston, and Hudson Willis of Dover, and an as yet unborn granddaughter, a sister Amy Bratka and a step-brother Bobby Yoho, both of Canton.

Her family gratefully acknowledges the kindnesses of the staff of University Hospital and Hope Lodge, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and the staff of Community Hospice for their thoughtful and compassionate care.

A Memorial Gathering celebrating her life will be hosted by Angela’s family at a later date. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville has been entrusted with her arrangements. Contributions in Angela’s memory may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
