Virtual open house planned at Buckeye Career Center

Buckeye Career Center’s annual open house is going virtual in 2020. The event will be held Dec. 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., by way of the Buckeye Career Center website and Zoom video conferencing platform.

The event will be available to prospective students, their family members and the community. Each of the 33 programs will have their own Zoom session for students to enter at 15-minute intervals. Sessions will start at 5:30, 5:45, 6, 6:15, 6:30, 6:45, 7 and 7:15 p.m. No registration is required and attendees do not need to have a Zoom account to participate. They should, however, plan to use an audio and/or video capable device. Guidance, application/marketing and administration will be open meetings students can join at any time to ask questions related to those departments. During or following the event, prospective students are invited to apply for admission for the 2021-2022 school year. The application is currently available on the Buckeye Career Center website or in local high school guidance offices.

Similar to a traditional in-person open house, the virtual event will feature lab instructors paired with academic instructors to provide students with answers to any questions they might have. “We wanted to come up with a way for potential students to still be able to interact with our instructors and learn about our programs in a safe way,” commented Buckeye Career Center Public Relations Coordinator Shyanne Carroll. “Typically, by this point in the year, we have already hosted 1,200 sophomores in our building for sophomore tours and they are anxious to apply. We hope we can still give them a glimpse into what Buckeye Career Center has to offer, even if it is by video this year,” she said. The district also plans to debut a 360-degree virtual tour early next year.
