Thanksgiving Day crash claims life of Malvern graduate

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a Thanksgiving Day crash that killed a 2024 graduate of Malvern High School.
According to Lt. Johnnie Maier of the New Philadelphia Post, Ethan Pistory of Kensington died from injuries he sustained in the one-vehicle crash on Lemon Rd. near Lilly Rd. in Brown Twp. at approximately 2:18 p.m.
Maier said Pistory was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado three-quarter ton pickup eastbound on Lemon Rd. between SR. 43 and Lilly Rd. He failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle traveled left of center, off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Pistory was transported from the scene to Aultman Hospital by EMT Ambulance. He was pronounced deceased by EMT personnel before arriving at the hospital.
Great Trail Fire Department, Carroll County Sheriff personnel and Deluxe Towing assisted at the scene.
Pistory was a 2024 graduate of Malvern High School and RG. Drage Career Center. Malvern Superintendent Mark Scott said the teen attended RG Drage his junior and senior years, earning industry credentials in welding. He was a member of the Malvern varsity baseball team.
He was employed at Moore Specialty in Salem.
“Ethan was an outstanding young man with a Vvbrant personality. His classmates and teachers loved him. He will be greatly missed, especially by the Malvern High School Class 2024,” Scott said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ethan’s family during this difficult time.”
He said any friends or classmates who may need support, can reach out to himself, Mr. Babiczuk, or school guidance counselors, Mrs. Wagner and Mrs. Dorr.
