A Carrollton man was killed in a motor vehicle accident Dec. 23 in the early afternoon.
A report of a one-vehicle accident came into the sheriff’s office at 3:58 p.m. According to Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams, Robert E. Sanders, 28, of 5227 Avon Rd. NE, Carrollton, was traveling west on Waynesburg Rd. passed June Rd. when he lost control of his car negotiating a slight curve.
The Chevy Cavalier went across the centerline and off the left side of the roadway. The car traveled through the grass and struck a tree head-on. Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas.
Sanders was not wearing a seatbelt. Sheriff Williams feels speed was a factor in the crash.
Quad Ambulance and Mohawk Valley Fire District assisted the sheriff office with the incident.
This is the seventh fatality of 2020.
