Carrollton Elementary student Kashton Jackson attended an Ohio State Buckeyes spring football practice March 23 as a reward for his hard work in the Guys with Ties Program.
Jackson was selected by his fellow Guys with Ties peers to represent the program at the practice. When the group was voting, students were asked to select the individual they felt has been the best leader within the program, and within the school by putting the things they have learned into practice. When Jackson had the opportunity to vote for himself, he didn’t feel it was right, and instead, voted for one of his other peers! This action exemplifies what the Guys with Ties Program is all about, said school officials.
One topic previously covered within the Guys with Ties Program is gratitude. During this particular lesson, students learn to write a proper thank you letter. During the OSU practice, Jackson was asked to write a thank you letter to his favorite player. He also chose to write a second thank you letter to Coach Ryan Day for allowing him the opportunity to attend the practice. After practice, Jackson presented Marvin Harrison Jr., (No. 18) his thank you letter and a Guys with Ties wrist band.
He was also able to interact with other players and coaches after practice.
School officials congratulated Jackson for earning this amazing experience through his hard work in the Guys with Ties Program.
