The Ohio Department of Transportation last week announced a major project affecting traffic on SR 39 east of Salineville.
Work was scheduled to begin June 10 on SR 39 east of Salineville from State Route (SR) 164 to Clarks Mills Road/Steubenville Pike Rd. The closure is the first of three sections from Salineville to Highlandtown scheduled to be closed as part of the project.
Each section will close for 60 days, equal to a total closure period of 180 days.
This project is a major rehabilitation of 4.5 miles of SR 39, stretching from Salineville to Steubenville Pike Road in Highlandtown. The existing concrete base pavement will undergo a process called rubblization, where a specialized machine will crush the concrete and rebuild the base for new asphalt. Once the rubblization is complete, a new asphalt layer will be placed on this stretch of State Route 39.
Closure Section #1: SR 164 to Steubenville Pike Road (CR 413)/ Clarks Mill Road (TR 773)
SR 39 will be closed to all non-local traffic. Residents, businesses, and property owners will have access throughout the project. All non-local traffic must detour.
