A mother and her four children are homeless after a fire destroyed their home in the early morning hours Nov. 20.
Ralph Castellucci, chief of Great Trail Fire Department, said the department was toned out at 2:26 a.m. for a fully involved structure fire at 49 Arbor Rd., Minerva.
Castellucci said both floors of the two-story home were engulfed when they arrived on scene.
The occupants were out of the home when the department arrived, but some received smoke and/or burn injuries. Names of the occupants and their injuries were not released.
Sandy Creek Fire District is an automatic tone in the area and was also on scene. Mutual aid of tankers were provided by Augusta, Fox and Carrollton fire departments.
Firefighters remained on scene until 6:15 a.m.
Castellucci said the 911 call originally went to Columbiana County sheriff dept. Dispatchers there called Minerva PD and the call was transferred to the Carroll County dispatch center.
Great Trail is investigating the fire with the state fire marshal’s office.
