Garbrandt accepts plea deal; sentenced to 15 years in prison

A Sherrodsville man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after accepting a plea deal that dismissed rape charges against him and canceled a jury trial scheduled to begin next week. 

Carroll County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael V. Repella, II, sentenced Rickie A. Garbrandt, 58, of 6382 Crane Rd. SW, Sherrodsville to five years each on two counts of Sexual Battery, second-degree felonies, and 60 months on Sexual Battery, a third -degree felony. He received no time for days served as he was out on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond during the proceedings.

As a result of the guilty plea, 10 other charges, including one count of first-degree Rape and counts of second-degree Attempted Rape, were dismissed. (nolle).

Garbrandt was indicted March 3, 2021, on 13 sex-related counts that dated back to 2001 and continued through 2020 involving three different children who, during that time, were in his custody. The children are now adults. 

He must register as a Tier III Sexual Offender and report his address to law enforcement every 90 days for the remainder of his life.
