Conotton Valley senior Autumn Brown was one of three persons named January students of the month at Buckeye Career Center.

Two high school students were chosen for the honor for demonstrating January’s core value of critical thinking. One adult education student was also chosen for the honor.

Brown is a level two senior in Exercise Science  and Sports Medicine and a level one senior in Auto Technology.

At BCC, Brown has been a two-year member of Drug Free Clubs of America and HOSA, making it to the state HOSA conference last year in human growth and development. At Conotton Valley, she has played volleyball for eight years and is a six year band member. She works for Kathy’s Catering. She was nominated by her Auto Technology instructor, Nathan Wauthier.

“Autumn is a very honest and trustworthy student. She is always on task and gets projects and assignments done on time,” commented Wauthier. Upon graduation, Brown plans to attend Bowling Green State University and eventually obtain a master’s degree in athletic training. She is the daughter of Todd and Julie Herman.

Kody Ames of New Philadelphia is the other student of the month and Samantha Nicely of Newcomerstown is the adult education student of the month. The trio was honored during the school board’s virtual meeting, held Jan. 14.
