Buckeye Career Center has named the September Student of the Month recipients. A local high school student was chosen for the honor for demonstrating September’s core value of Responsibility/Accountability. An Adult Education student was also named for the honor.
The high school student of the month is Electrical Systems Technology senior Kail Snair. He attends BCC from Carrollton and works at Hilscher-Clarke. Snair is a nine-year member of 4H and attends The Bridge Church. He has wrestled for 13 years and also participated in trapshooting, golf, track, and FFA. Snair was nominated by his instructor, Mr. Jeremy Burdick.
“Whenever I need help in the lab, Kail is more than willing to help,” said Burdick. “He got a job over the summer with a local contractor, proving that he is committed to his career pathway.” Upon graduation, Snair hopes to enter the Canton Electrical JATC apprenticeship program and obtain an associate degree. He is the son of Steve and Angie Snair.
September’s Adult Education Student of the Month is Medical Office Support student Erika Bender. Bender, of Carrollton, is a BCC and Carrollton alumna and works at Heartland Hill Restaurant. Bender enrolled in the program to create a brighter future for herself and her family.
She aspires to complete her externship in the spring and obtain a full-time position with that company. Her instructor, Robin Deets, nominated her for the honor.
“In such a short time, Erika has shown respect and dedication,” said Deets. “She shows great promise for success.” Bender married her husband Ryan on Sept. 9, and they have one child together, Paisley.
The two were recognized by the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education at the board’s September meeting.
