A two-week trial is scheduled to begin July 9 in Carroll County Common Pleas Court in the voluntary manslaughter trial of Carroll County Sheriff Deputy Jacob Baker.

Visiting Judge Linton D. Lewis released a scheduling order last week that includes time lines for filing motions, disclosing expert witnesses, filing exhibits intended to be used at trial and the filing of pre-trial motions. A status conference/plea is scheduled June 18 at 11 a.m.

Lewis filed a separate ruling denying a motion by Baker’s attorney, Kimberly Kendall Corral, for the disclosure of grand jury testimony in the case.

Baker, 29, is charged in the Nov. 16, 2019, shooting death of Robert Sikon, III, during a traffic stop in New Harrisburg.
