The Algonquin Mill Fall Festival will celebrate its 52nd birthday on Oct. 13, 14 and 15 at the festival grounds in Petersburg.

The fall foliage of the rolling Carroll County countryside provides a beautiful backdrop to the steam-powered mill and pioneer village.

Festival goers will enjoy homemade foods such as apple butter, sauerkraut, cookies and bean soup.

Sauerkraut, a longtime mill favorite, will be available each day, according to festival officials. A maximum of three tons of kraut sold per day. Cost is $7 per quart with a limit of six quarts per person.

Attractions include the steam-powered flour mill and sawmill, an old-time print shop, antique tools, engines and machinery, an operational one-room schoolhouse, NYC Railroad station with HO model layout, an art and photography show, horse-drawn wagon rides and more.

There will be craft demonstrations and hand-woven rugs and hand-sewn quilts will be available for sale in the farm house. Demonstrations of quilting and weaving will also be provided daily.

Kids can visit the petting zoo, have their faces painted and ride the kiddy train.

Live entertainment on stage will include cloggers, bluegrass bands, vocal groups and the Dulci-More on the stage Saturday and Sunday. Area high school bands will perform Friday in the area in front of the Art Barn. Juried craft vendors will fill the festival grounds, selling a variety of goods and wares. An antique car show Sunday promises to fill the grounds with vehicles.

The festival includes a church service on Sunday, at 8 a.m.

Festival hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and admission is $8 per vehicle. Primitive camping is available at $15 per night.  The mill complex is located four miles south of Carrollton, OH on State Route 332. Pets are not permitted.
