William George Shaw Jr., 80, of Minerva, passed away at his home Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. 

Born in Massillon Aug. 29, 1940, he was a son to William George Sr. and Hester (Tuttle) Shaw. 

He retired from PCC after 40 years of service.  He served in the US Navy and was a member of VFW Post 4120.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was the past president of the Minerva Sportsman Club and participated in field trials with hunting dogs.  He also worked as a blacksmith.

William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally Shaw of Minerva; two sons,  William George (Kelly) Shaw III  and Robert James (Jan Baker) Shaw, both of Minerva; a daughter-in-law, Patty (Lenny) Allen of Minerva; grandchildren,  Vanessa (David) Barb of North Canton, Christy (Ryan) Kopplin of Waterloo WI, Colton William Shaw of Alliance and Makenzie Rae Shaw of Minerva; bonus grandchildren, Marty, Morgan, Mallory, Kayley and David Allen, all of Minerva; and three great-grandchildren:  Kensley Barb, Rowan Barb and Emery Kopplin.

In addition to his parents, William  was preceded in death by a son, Steven Alexander Shaw, and two sisters,  Sue Mann and Sally Crown.

A memorial service was be held March  6 in the First Christian Church of Minerva, with Dale Roberts officiating.
