Around the county…

March – Mondays – Lunch 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. by donation at the Warren Twp. Community Center on SR 212 in New Cumberland. Includes many sides, dessert and a drink. Plus, The Loft Resale Shop is open 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.   

Tuesdays – Carrollton Rotary Club meets at St. John’s Villa at noon. 

March 10 – Carroll County Animal Protection League meeting at the Carroll County District Library in the side room to the right of the front door at 6:30 p.m. 

March 10 – Participants are invited to Fry Family Park for a leisurely walk along the trails in the dark from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Take part in the search for native nocturnal birds of prey and other animals. Dress for the weather, wear proper footwear and bring a flashlight. Registration is required at starkparks.com. Fry Family Park is located at 255 Farber St. SE, Magnolia.

March 11 – Vet’s Club dinner 5-8 p.m. featuring Reubens, along with fish until Easter. Open to the public. Vet’s Club is located on Brenner Rd., Carrollton. 

March 14 – “Pi Day at Fry” allows guests to visit Fry Family Park for hiking and pie from 5-8 p.m. Maps of the planned 3.14-mile hike will be at the shelter. After hiking, participants can make their own mountain pie around the campfire. All food and supplies are provided. Registration is required at starkparks.com. 

March 15 & 29 – Learn to make an Amish knot rug with Liz Moser at the Carroll County District Library. Two-part class begins at 5 p.m. and is limited to 15 participants. Cost is $10. Call the library at 330-627-2613 to register. 

March 15 – Carroll County Health District board meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the office, 301 Moody Ave., Carrollton.

March 17 – Yarnians at 1 p.m. at Carroll County District Library.

March 21 – March Madness Hike on the Sandy Valley Trail at 10 a.m. The 2 to 3-mile hike begins at the Maple Street Trailhead in Waynesburg. Space is limited. Register at starkparks.com.

March 22 – Card Class with Lori Kucera at Carroll County District Library at 1 p.m. Easter themed cards. Registration requested at 330-627-2613. Cost is $5.
