Joanne Johnston is Edison High School’s Employee of the Month for January.
She has worked at Edison full-time for 18 years and has an education degree in Dairy Science and Agricultural Business, plus she has served as a substitute for four years. Johnston has held a variety of positions throughout the years including cook, special needs preschool and general education preschool aide, kindergarten aide, attendance aide and special education aide.
Although she has enjoyed many positions at Edison Local, her home in the special education program has been her favorite by far.
“I love working with the students and passing on my love of cooking to them. I feel blessed to work with life skills teacher Ron Ferrell, who is such a wonderful teacher and cook,” she said.
Johnston will be married 32 years in July to her husband, Jeff. They have two sons, Jacob and Joey, who are EHS alumni. Jacob went on to obtain a degree in physical therapy from Kent State and lives in Gnadenhutten with his wife, Jenna, who is a dental hygienist. Joey received a degree in geology from the University of Akron.
Johnston is the former Joanne Starkey of Carroll County and graduate of Carrollton High School.
