Area girls bowling teams clinch four of six district berths

The Conotton Valley girls bowling team captured the sectional title at Boulevard lanes Feb. 14

All four area girls bowling teams are headed to district competition after qualifying during sectional action yesterday at Boulevard Lanes in Dover.

Conotton Valley dominated the competition to earn the top spot of the six qualifying slots. Minerva placed second followed by Sandy Valley, Carrollton, East Liverpool and Maysville.

The Rockets rolled a score of 2,634 in regulation and added a Baker total 1,063 for a winning score of 3,697. The Baker scores included a second game total of 256.

Minerva rolled a 2,452 in regulation and 948 Baker for a 3,400. Sandy Valley 2,299 regulation and 1,014 for a 3,3,13 and Carrollton 2,283 and 979 for 3,262.

The six teams will compete for two team slots and two individual slots in the state tournament Feb. 23 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton. The state tournament is scheduled the first weekend of March at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
