Baker strikes out 600th batter, Rockets cruise to 10-0 win

Conotton Valley junior Masy Baker reached a milestone in her high school career May 5 when she struck out her 600th batter.
Baker struck out 14 batters in a 10-0 shutout over the Ridgewood Generals. The Rocket ace allowed just two hits and walked one batter in the complete game effort.
Baker also led off the offensive effort for her team, hitting a triple in the first inning on a 2-2 count to score two runs. She ended the game with three hits.
Delilah Williams and Delaney Peters also had three-hit games for the winners.

Maddison Kelley put on a softball clinic in the win with triples in the first and sixth innings and singles in the third and fourth innings as the teams got the game in between rain showers May 3. Kelley’s first inning triple scored two runs and the Rockets then fell behind when the Saints scored four runs in the fourth inning but rallied to earn the win. Baker went the distance for the winners, allowing six runs over seven innings, and struck out six batters. The Rockets pounded out 13 hits in the contest.

Chloe Stuber led the Rockets to the win with a four-hit day that included a triple. Her sister, Daphne, also had four hits.
After scoring four runs in the first and three in the second and third innings, the winners put six runs on the board in the fifth inning with Williams, Jordyn Braun, Kate Liggett, Gretchin Rolli and Chloe Stuber all collecting RBIs.
Baker picked up the win. She went three innings, gave up two hits and struck out seven. Kelley came out of the bullpen to pitch the final two innings.
McKenna Burk took the loss for the Cardinals, giving up 20 hits over five innings of work.
