Warriors, Hornets join nine-team field at annual Sandy Valley event, athletes earn top 10-placings

Nate Baker and Logan Beaver both won individual titles for Carrollton at the Lidderdale Invitational, held April 14 at Sandy Valley High School.
Baker won the 200M with a time of 23.71 and Beaver won the discus with a throw of 130-feet, 7-inches. Baker also placed second in the 100M (11:56) and Beaver finished sixth in the shot put (39 feet).
The Carrollton boys placed fifth in the nine-team field and the girls team finished sixth. The Malvern girls garnered sixth place and the boys ninth place.
BOYS RESULTS
Carrollton
100M: Brock Smith, fifth (12.25).
800M: Denis Linhart, eighth (2:18.12), Keegan Barkan, ninth (2:20.67).
3,200M: Ricky Sibila, seventh (11:23.40).
4×100 Relay: second (45.41) Smith, Zach Martin, Austin Colletti and Baker.
High jump: Barkan, seventh (5-4).
Long jump: Smith (19-4.25), Colletti 10th (17-4.75).
Malvern
1600M: Seth Kandel, 10th (5:26.75).
4×100 R: sixth (47.15) Huffman, KJ Thomas, Ja’Son Barrino and Xavier Watson.
4×200 Relay: fourth (1:36.91) KJ Wafler, Thomas, Landyn Huffman and Watson. 4×400 Relay: seventh (3:55.86) Kandel, Eric Swain, Drake DeLong and Huffman.
Long jump: Thomas, eighth (17.7.25).
Shot put: Frank McClelland, eighth (38.6-5).

Carrollton
100M: Elizabeth Potts, second (13.94).
400M: Erin King, seventh (1:09.09).
800M: Josie Burgett, third (2:33.12).
1,600M: Makenzie Burgett, sixth (6:00.94).
3,200M: Lucia Fornseca-Dolado, sixth (14:31.38), Maddie Burgett, eighth (15:30.39).
100 Hurdles: King, fifth (19.70).
300 Hurdles: Maya Keyser, seventh (1:02.16).

“Although we would have liked to have seen better team scores, we had some individual athletes step up at a very competitive meet,” noted Malvern Coach Jeremy Maher.
“Lanie Bower was able to make it to finals in both the 100M and 200M and place in both events. KJ Thomas and Xavier Watson placed in the 100M and KJ was also able to make it in the long jump. Rayne Theiss was also able to place in the finals in the long jump and Alyssa Boni placed in the 400M. Both boys and girls 4×200 teams ran well!”
